KC manufacturing students tour Driv-LokKC manufacturing students tour Driv-Lok

October 29th, 2014—Kishwaukee College took several students on a tour of Driv-Lok in Sycamore on October 21. The students are enrolled in the Automated Engineering Technology (AET) program or in the I-CAPS program. The AET program prepares students for careers in manufacturing as CNC operators or machinists. I-CAPS is the Illinois Career Advancement Pathways System which prepares students simultaneously for the GED/high school equivalency exam and the Certified Production Technology certificate to become a skilled manufacturing professional. While at Driv-Lok, the students were able to observe the machines, products, and processes of the local manufacturer. Staff members accompanying the students on the tour were Michelle Allen, Career Center Coordinator, Suzanne Meerman, Adult Education Instructor, and Kristine Adzovic, Director of Adult Transitions. Kishwaukee College hosts Best Practices SymposiumKishwaukee College hosts Best Practices Symposium

October 28th, 2014—Kishwaukee College was host to over 100 education professionals for the 5th Annual Best Practices Learning Symposium for Developmental Educators on Tuesday, October 21. Participants chose from over 15 sessions that explored the topic of Assessing Developmental Placement and Assessment in Community Colleges. The keynote speaker was Dr. Thomas Bailey who is the Director of the new National Center for the Analysis of Postsecondary Readiness and the Director of the Community College Research Center at Teachers College at Columbia University, as well as director of the National Center for Postsecondary Research (NCPR). Dr. Bailey's keynote was titled "Aligning Innovations in Developmental Education with the Completion Agenda." KC annual College Night on November 5

October 27th, 2014—Kishwaukee College is hosting its annual College Night on Wednesday, November 5, from 6:30 — 8:00 p.m. in the College gymnasium with a special presentation at 6:00 p.m. and again at 7:00 p.m. in Jenkins Auditorium on financing a college education. There is also a presentation on the Engineering-Mathematics-Science Academy at 6:00 p.m. and a Career Technologies and Health and Education Information Session at 6:30p.m. in Jenkins Auditorium.<  Full Article

KC offers Ups & Downs of Dining á la Downton

October 27th, 2014—The Continuing Education Department at Kishwaukee College is offering a unique opportunity to area residents: to learn what dining in Edwardian England was really like, for the upstairs family and the downstairs staff. On November 5 at 6:30p.m. at the Freight Room at the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave in Sycamore, join Ellie Presents for The Ups and Downs of Dining á la Downton. <  Full Article
