Faculty/staff parking lot: this parking lot will close on Saturday, June 8. Also on this day, demolition will begin on most of the B200 wing. The B200 wing because there will be two science labs in the B200 wing that will remain open for the 8-week session this summer. During this time, the only way for faculty and students to access these B200 labs will be to exit Door 50 from the B300 area, pass through the construction staging area, and enter the B200 wing through Door 53. The exterior route from Door 50 to Door 53 will be clearly marked as safe for pedestrians, and all contractors have been made aware of this as well. Finally, all faculty, staff and students should not use the exterior doors from the B400 wing facing east, except in the case of an emergency evacuation.

This summer, as the AB100 wing (now called the C wing) renovation is completed, the construction staging area near the B Parking Lot will be removed and the remaining site work will be completed. Once complete, the bus drop off area will finally be moved to its permanent home near the northern exit of the Student Center. Starting in the Fall semester, students riding TransVac and LOTS busses will begin using that location.
Also this summer, the B200 renovation will begin. Therefore, the construction staging area will have to be moved to a location closer to B200. Starting on June 8, the faculty/staff parking lot will be closed to accommodate the construction. The B200 renovation will be complete in January 2014, but there are still a few smaller areas subject to renovation in 2014. Therefore, you can expect this lot to be unavailable for the entire 2013/14 academic year.

Good afternoon everyone. I took a walk through the AB100 renovation today and snapped a few pictures. So far the bulk of the work has involved demolition and reconfiguration of the structural steel of that wing. This week we have begun putting up walls. We’re still on target for an August 2012 opening, with AETP offices opening in late-May or early-June. Why is AETP moving early, you ask? At the moment, AETP is temporarily housed in the former Administration offices in the B200 wing. We need to begin demolition of much of the B200 wing as early as possible so we can have the new B200 Health Careers Wing open for business in the Spring 2014 semester. Therefore, the AETP folks need to vacate ASAP!
Second floor corridor facing west. New science labs will be accessible from this corridor.
Second floor biology lab, looking out the windows of the former Business Office. In the background you see the new Admissions, Registration and Records office in the Student Center.
Second floor corridor facing east. Forensics Lab to the left and bathrooms to the right. Straight ahead, that beige square is the opening to the Student Center. Just on the other side of that wall is the Board Room.
These are the second-floor bathrooms on the far east side of the wing, located along the bank of windows in the former Financial Aid Office. Don’t worry, these bathrooms won’t have windows!

We are in the process of transitioning from construction of the Student Center to renovation of the AB100 wing. Once renovated, this wing will house a number of general classrooms and science labs. Also in this wing will be a brand new art gallery, the Adult Education and Transition Programs Department and the Human Resources Department. We expect this construction to be complete in time for the Fall 2013 semester.
To accomplish this renovation, we will have to completely close the wing. Therefore, the internal connection from the main building to the Student Center will no longer be available, starting on Thursday, November 8. This summer, when the AB100 wing reopens, there will be four connections into the Student Center – two on the first floor and two on the second floor. In the meantime, to get to the Student Center from the main building, I suggest that you pass through the courtyard or follow the sidewalk near the south parking lot. The external doorways to the Student Center will be open.
Once the AB100 renovation is complete, we will begin work on the B200 wing. This will be home for the College’s health careers departments. This renovation should be complete in time for the start of the Spring 2014 semester. Also, this spring we will begin construction on a new vehicle storage building, which will be located near the Campus Operations Building. This summer we will renovate the old art gallery and the adjacent corridor into student lounge and study space. In 2014 we will build a new division office for the ACSS and MSB divisions. Also in 2014 we will renovate the space vacated by the Massage Therapy program into new classrooms.

So much attention has been paid to the construction at hand, it is easy to forget that there is another construction phase yet to begin. In 2013, once the Student Services Center is complete, we will begin renovations on approximately 90,000 square feet of our main building. This will primarily be new classrooms and labs, but will also include a new HR office, Adult Education & Transition Programs facilities, Division offices, faculty offices and a new Art Gallery. This fall, we will begin the Design Development process, where we will develop our plans in significantly more detail than during Schematic Design.
